Seems Montano must have payrolled to have this show aired again on Australian TV, it just showed on SBS and wow, i had to google to see if this guy actually was on Monsanto's payroll. Very dissapointing Horizon!! I expected better from this documentary publisher.

This program has just been shown on TV in Australia. I was expecting a balanced documentary on GM crops. Instead I have just seen 1 hour of propaganda. Jimmy Doherty claims to have a scientific background but did not pose any of the questions that were screaming to be asked. I am not sure whether he is paid by Monsanto or whether he is extremely naive. Very disappointing.

This show was the biggest load of corporate sponsored propaganda I have ever seen on any topic. Look at what monsanto has done with GMO in India. All the farmers are broke, now nothing grows and they have the highest suicide rate in the world which was once at 30 farmers a month. GMO kills, period.

Wow, this was by far the most biased and shallow BBC documentary I've ever seen. The only thing missing in the picture was Jimmy Doherty using a baseball cap sponsored by Monsanto.

The future in front of us looks quite clear: 1 - Companies like Monsanto will copyright the DNA of, let’s say, a genetically modified type of corn, with 50% more yield. 2 - Those GM corn seeds will be cloned / mass produced in the greenhouse labs of those companies. 3 - Once adopted by the majority of farmers, those GM crops will start a slow but unstoppable process of cross-polinization / genetic contamination of non-GM crops. 4 - If GM companies are smart enough, they will produce seeds that are sterile, and, in smaller percentages, seeds that are fertile but with degenerative genes that lead to sterility after three or four generations. 5 - This way, non-GM crops will also start to become sterile, by cross-polinization / gene transfer. 6 - In the medium/long term, farmers and the vast majority of agricultural companies will no longer be able to mass produce their own seeds, using "nature's" methods, i.e., one corn seed originating a corncob, originating more fertile seeds, etc. 7- All seeds will have be bought to companies owning patented seeds, as they are the only ones legally and technically able to mass produce them.

The same will happen to animals, and in the end to humans as well, as most people won’t mind selling the copyright of their own DNA heritage to some eugenic company in exchange for money or the promise of extended life and better health.

You've made an interesting point about these scenes being scripted encounters. For those who missed it, they can see the Horizon GM crops programme again on BBC iplayer.
